Day 17
Back to diary
We both had forgotten that we had another stop today! Turned out to be a nice surprise as we tendered into Koh Samui which is a little Thai island. Today we did a holiday first for us and hired a car, the island was very small and they drove on the same side of the road as us - what could possibly go wrong??
I'm chief navigator and Leon is driving our first stop is the big Buddha (yes another Buddha, they love that sort of thing over here), we made it there in the car safely, took some pictures and then got blessed by a Buddha monk for good luck. That was a pretty weird experience we had to crawl to him on our knees and sit there with our hands together like we were praying while he got some sticks dipped them in water and showered us, he then tied some colourful string bracelets to us and sent us on our way.
We decided to try and find the waterfalls we had been told about by the cruise staff and headed off in our car, to be fair I'm a pretty damn good navigator even if there is only 5 roads on the island, so I got us there but we had to drive down a dirt track which didn't like our car that much especially when we heard a loud banging noise, like a rock hitting the side of the car and denting it - oh yeah that's what happened oops! When we got to the end of the dirt track we jumped out to find the waterfall. Nope no waterfall in sight - bloody amazing luck right?? We took the car back next and parked the smashed in side by a high pavement, the little chappie came over to check it out looking at the front and back but not the side - now that's good luck!! Thanks Buddha monk!!
Back on the ship we have dinner with our ship mates again who we are enjoying the company of - Hello to Doug, Lillian and Sarah if you're reading this - hope you've landed home safely, looking forward to hearing from you.
We spent the evening in the casino with some Ozzie's who encourage us to drink copious amounts of alcohol and not get home until 3am - hard life hey!
That's all from us for now - it's our last day on the ship tomorrow and we are at sea all day. Xx
