Day 19
Here we are on the last leg of our journey in Singapore, we left the ship around 8.30am and after a little mucking around with our transfer we end up in our hotel, it's nice enough and the people are lovely and friendly. There's a hop on/hop off tourist bus stop outside the hotel so we signed up and went exploring, stopping first at Raffles hotel complex, Raffles is an expensive hotel where famous/rich people stay - its a beautiful white Indian building built by the Raffle family many years ago (I can't remember when now, but google it yourself it's worth a look).
Next on to the Singapore flyer this is their version of the London eye it's actually taller then the eye by 34 metres and takes around 45 minutes to ride round, it would have been lovely but it's the rainy season at the moment in Singapore so the visibility today was poor. We did see the Grand Prix track though and Leon started planning his trip back :)
We got back on the bus and went over to some garden area, within the gardens were these 2 armadillo looking buildings. In one of them they had plants/trees and stuff like that growing in there, the other one was a cloud walk - when we first entered there was a massive waterfall (if only we knew this when we were searching for some in Koh Samui, that car would never have got dented!!), as we walked around this place there were clouds everywhere, man made clouds on the inside how cool is that?! At the end we watched a little movie about what would happen if the world gets 5 degrees hotter - that's some pretty bad stuff so be more careful with energy and stuff like that from now on please.
We walked around the marina bay sands complex next, the marina sands is a truly amazing building its like 3 tall towers in a row then a boat looking building placed on top, connecting all 3 towers, we have never seen anything like it.
Our feet were aching pretty bad now we'd been walking around for about 9 hours :( we wanted to cross the bay so we could get ready to watch the water and laser show from that building, we tried to get a boat across but that didn't work so we ended up walking around - yeah our feet are not loving us right now.
Once we made it over the other side we settled in to a bar with a bucket of beer and watched the show, it wasn't that amazing but worth a watch, not feeling like we wanted to move on yet we order another bucket of beer then finally headed back to the hotel around 10ish.
After all our travelling, all the exciting stuff we have been up to you would think we would rest up before our last day on holiday and travelling back right? Ha, no! There's a live band on in our hotel yay! Who could resist getting the Singapore singers to sing like a virgin? Hahaha, actually the band were bloody awesome and did lots of requests for us and just before the end we spotted a saxophone and requested (well of course the best sax music) Baker Street, when we requested it the sax players face lit up and he blasted that tune out to the bar.
A lovely chap told me he thought I would love Singapore when I got there and how right he was, I've fallen in love with this place - thanks Doug!
