Christmas vacation 2015
It's Bahamas day and we're off to check it out, we've been here a couple of times before.
We dock at 8am and have to be back on the boat at 2.30pm so there's not much time to explore, we head off out but nothing looks familiar. Before when we have been here we normally get taken to a beach area but this time we have docked at Nassau mainland.
Now this place ain't all that nice apart from it does have a Starbucks although there's no free wifi, we stroll around looking for another snorkel so we can jump in the sea and find some fish. The shops are bearly open at this time of the morning and needless to say we don't get another one.
There's a boat taxi going to paradise island and we figure that's the place to go and get on the taxi, we are heading for a beach called cabbage bay, after a 30 minute wait we finally head off.
The taxi drops us off at the Atlantis resort which is a massive hotel complex. Famous people come here and it's very grand! We are told to walk through where some apartments are and we'll be on cabbage beach. That didn't happen! We walk around and around and we can't find it anywhere so we head into the hotel, they advise us we need to catch a shuttle to the other side of the hotel.
At the other side of the hotel we still can't find the beach so we ask again - "just walk through the hotel and head out the doors on the right" we are told, like I said this is a massive hotel and we are only trying to get out of one wing! Finally we are out.... But there's no beach in sight :( we spot some fellow cruise people looking just as confused as us asking where to go and then we follow them.
We did make it to a beach not cabbage bay but just a public beach. The sea was pretty rough and it wasn't that nice to snorkel in, we didn't see any fish 😩🐠
We didn't have very long at the beach before we needed to get back to the boat, remember we had a journey and a half getting here? Yeah, well we jumped in a taxi got back much easier!
We think we'll jump back on the boat have some food and drink and chill out for a bit before we go to the art seminar but of course nothing is ever that easy right?? No, we don't have photo id with us so we ain't allow back on the boat! We were never told we needed photo id with us because the public address system isn't working on our level and we aren't getting any messages.
So we sit and wait on the side of the dock for an armed escort to take us back to the boat - funny enough we aren't the only ones without id there's 2 more couples with us.
We have a look around the shops onboard and Leon's finds some lovely sunglasses check him out in the photo page...
The art seminar was very good we learnt some art is potatoes and that's just fine.
We are booked into the steak restaurant tonight which was lovely - I had wagyu beef sliders to start and Leon had chicken drumsticks then we both had filet steak for main - very, very good.
